Cultural displays, international foods and fun family activities attract
record breaking attendance

The Victoria International School of Sharjah (VISS), a premium school offering the Australian Curriculum and IB diploma, celebrated its International Day with over 70 nationalities represented at the annual event.

VISS welcomed over 3,000 students, teachers and families for the celebrations, the largest community event the school has hosted in its 10 year history.

Opened with a ‘Parade of Nations’, the day was filled with cultural displays and performances, international foods and a range of fun-filled activities for families to enjoy. Students represented their respective cultures and traditions while learning and taking part in other cultural activities throughout the day.

Dean Pyrah, Executive Principal at VISS, said, “At VISS, we strive to instil an understanding of diversity through acceptance and sharing, where all members of our community are respected for who they are and where they come from. Through nurturing understanding in our young people we endeavour to contribute to a more harmonious world.”

“This was undoubtedly the largest community event that we have held in our 10 years as a school and it’s through community gatherings like International Day that we can truly see the school’s values at work.”
