A series of smart services launched by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) at this year’s GITEX will make it easier for parents, educators and schools to access services provided by the authority.
KHDA’s new mobile app will allow parents to sign the parent-school contract from the comfort of their home or office. The app features a ‘Happy Home’ section for parents which will allow them to track their child’s progress with personalised information.
Mouza Al-Suwaidi, Chief of Engagement at Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, “The new KHDA app has been designed to benefit all education stakeholders including students, parents, educators and investors. We have added a host of new smart services linked with Emirates ID to make it easier and more convenient for both parents and education providers.”
Private schools in Dubai have been provided with Emirates ID scanners to link parent and student details with the school. Parents visiting GITEX can also scan their Emirates ID along with their child’s Emirates ID to sign-up as new users at the KHDA stand in Dubai Smart Government Hall.
Once registered, parents can read and sign the school contract using their mobile phones – without having the need to go to school.
Parent-school contracts have to be signed at the beginning of academic year, providing schools and parents with a list of duties and responsibilities towards each other. The app will significantly reduce pressure on schools which earlier had to individually invite parents to sign the contract digitally by visiting the school.
KHDA’s new mobile app will also provide a directory of private schools, universities and training institutes in Dubai. Teachers and educators in Dubai can also visit the new What Works website (www.whatworks.ae) which features learning material from educational workshops hosted by KHDA.
Permit related services for school investors and approval of education advertisements will also be made available as part of the new smart services.
KHDA’s new initiatives have been announced in line with Dubai Smart Government’s theme of ‘Powering a city of delightful moments’. Parents can sign-up for the smart services by visiting the KHDA stand at the Dubai Smart Government Hall in GITEX from 18th to 22nd October.
To register as new-users at GITEX, parents should bring their Emirates ID along with their child’s Emirates ID to the KHDA stand.
