Young people aged 12 to 15 from different schools in Dubai and diverse cultures will be given the opportunity to display their creativity in themed workshops and master-classes held across different tracks at the second season of Dubai Saturday Clubs.

Announcing the initiative, Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the board of directors and Director General of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), said, “Dubai Saturday Clubs gives an opportunity for students to be away from the classroom and connect with social entrepreneurs in a creative setting. It is an interactive concept where students work on design concepts every Saturday. By connecting them with design and giving them a platform, we are enabling students to make new friends and explore new ideas.”

Hosted in partnership with Dubai Culture and Dubai Design District (d3), students will harness their passion for design, as well as channel their creative, collaborative and communications skills at the event.

The Dubai Saturday Clubs deliver a fun, informal and educational programme that brings together teenagers from across Dubai’s schools together with social entrepreneurs to make the world better and happier.

Mohammad Saeed Al-Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Design District said, “We are proud to be part of Dubai Saturday Clubs one of the many important initiatives supported by d3 when it comes to education. d3 has been a strong supporter of education since its inception – such initiatives bridge the gap between industry and academia and this is a wonderful opportunity for kids to enjoy and learn something new while getting a first-hand experience of working with top designers.”

This year’s #DubaiSaturdayClub sessions will be held on two Saturdays a month in February, March, April and May. Each session will be delivered by community mentors working in creativity and design; entrepreneurship; technology and wellbeing and, working side-by-side with their teams and mentors.

The programme culminates with students inventing and creating a prototype of a product or service to benefit our world and all prototypes will be displayed at key events across Dubai.
