Programme will offer Emirati students with high-quality education in Dubai private schools

Providing opportunities for outstanding Emirati students to join some of the best private schools in Dubai, the Mohammed bin Rashid Distinguished Students Programme is now accepting applications from students for the new academic year.

Open to Emirati students from Dubai, the programme is the first of its kind in the UAE and gives Emirati students access to innovative, smart and positive education practices.

The programme was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during the Future Dialogue session to discuss Dubai 2021 Plan and will be implemented at the beginning of the next academic year 2017-2018.

Fatma Al Marri, Chief Executive Officer of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, “Our aim is to ensure every Emirati student receives high quality education and we are opening more pathways to enable greater access to some of the best private schools in Dubai. The MBR Distinguished Students Programme allows young Emirati students to contribute towards nation building in the future by getting high-quality education and academic guidance. We are grateful to the school operators who have committed to support UAE nationals and look forward to welcoming more schools as part of this initiative.”

The MBR Distinguished Students Programme is being rolled out by Knowledge and Human Development Authority and selected students will start classes from the new academic year in September 2017.

Registration for the programme is open from April 18 to May 9 via the KHDA website (https://www.khda.gov.ae/en/mbrscholarship). The website showcases participating schools listed by location and school curricula.

All online applications will be reviewed in accordance with the eligibility criteria and the last day to apply for the programme is May 9.


Student criteria for scholarships

Knowledge and Human Development Authority has identified a number of criteria that enable Emirati students to join the MBR Distinguished Students Programme:

  • The student must be a UAE national from the emirate of Dubai
  • The student should pass written tests and oral interviews set by the evaluation committee
  • The student must register in one of the participating schools listed on the KHDA website
