GEMS Royal Dubai School hosted Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General, KHDA, who kickstarted the Dubai Fitness Challenge in schools by performing the obstacle course at the school today.

With the aim to make Dubai one of the most active cities in the world, the Dubai Fitness Challenge – a Sheikh Hamdan initiative – was launched on October 2 to motivate residents of the UAE to engage in physical activities for 30 minutes daily for 30 days.

Kevin Loft, Principal of GEMS Royal Dubai School, said: “The energy levels are soaring as we kick-off the Dubai Fitness Challenge. We encourage all of our students, parents and staff from every GEMS School to be involved in different fitness activities and look forward to completing the 30-day challenge and making Dubai the most active city in the world.”

Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General, KHDA, said: “I’m very excited to be here. This is my first school visit – as a part of our programme “Fit Together” where we plan to visit schools every day, engage with children in fun activities and get them moving. Today, I had a lot of fun with the kids who made me a promise that they will challenge their parents and families to stay fit!”

Students at GEMS Royal Dubai School along with teachers started the morning with 30 minutes of fun activities and games, as a part of the initiative.
