KHDA hosts sporting events in support of wellbeing and fitness
Dubai schools turned to sporting activities in celebration of National Sports Day on November 24 – with events hosted across the city’s schools to mark the day.
Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, “Being healthy and fit is an important part of the schooling experience. Students usually enjoy their physical activities at school and we encourage schools to support students in their wellbeing and fitness.”
KHDA employees started the day with a 3km sunrise desert run at 6am, setting the stage for schools to follow with their own activities. The sporting activities focused on promoting fitness among school students with exercise sessions, football matches and other events.
“Sports improve the quality of life and creates a positive learning environment. The national sports day will help spark a culture of wellbeing in students and schools.”
KHDA officials visited the Repton School and GEMS Modern Academy to celebrate the day with students and be part of the activities planned at their school. At the GEMS Modern Academy, KHDA officials attended the formation of the world’s largest human sentence – a new world record.
The day ended with a friendly football match between KHDA and Dubai Statistics Center at the Al Ahli Football Stadium.
