we are proud to announce this year’s Bett MEA Awards Shortlist. The Bett MEA Awards celebrate and reward the creativity, innovation and leadership found throughout the Middle East and Africa’s education sector. They showcase the best solutions to everyday challenges, which help students to achieve educational excellence.
For 2018 the Bett MEA Award categories were revamped to feature five key areas for teaching best practice and products to shine: Leadership K12, Leadership HE, GCC Teacher, Innovation Individual and Innovation Company. UAE leads the Shortlist with 8 finalists while Saudi Arabia has two, the only other country to have multiple finalists.
The award entries were judged by a prestigious, independent panel of education thought leaders from across the Middle East & Africa region:

- Wafa Alhashmi, Senior Specialist – Labour Market, ADEK – UAE
- Marianne Jones, Digital Education Facilitator – EMI Department, Ministry of Education – UAE Ministry of Education – UAE
- Fatma Ahmed Al Bastaki, Principal, Hamdan bin Zayed School – UAE
- Harb Bou-Harb, MEA Education Director, Microsoft – UAE
- Nadir Zafar, Chief Operating Officer, Alef Education – UAE
- Momar Dieng, Former Senior Technical & Policy Advisor, Ministry of Education – Senegal
The panel reviewed and scored all award entries, with those receiving the highest scores making it to the shortlist. Celebrating the boldest solutions, the bravest institutions and the best projects shaping the region’s education landscape, the shortlist is comprised of:

The winners will be announced at the Bett MEA Gala Dinner & Awards which will take place on the evening of 23 April, 2018.
The Awards are part of the Bett MEA two-day event under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and will behosted in strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Microsoft, Bett’s worldwide partner. Taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) on April 23 and 24, 2018, it brings together more than 50 nations under one roof at a Leadership Summit to discuss the future of education and its transformation. An adjoining Expo will showcase over 50 of the most exciting transformative tools and technologies that are set to revolutionise the learning environment, including industry giants such as Lenovo, Alef Education and Microsoft.
