GCC / MENA education and learning publisher Alpha Publishing hosted a Professional Development Summit at the Al Ittihad Private School in Jumeirah, Dubai on Nov 5th 2016. The summit marked the adoption of Alpha Publishing’s “Alpha Science” program for years 1 – 5 across all four Al Ittihad schools in the GCC region.

Supporting partners of the summit included the “Think Science” program – part of the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development’s efforts to inspire and encourage UAE youth to embrace careers in science – The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre and KDSL Global, all of whom had representatives present. In addition, the summit featured a number of esteemed speakers from both the GCC and wider International education community including:

  • Andre’ L. Ponder, Assistant Principle at Broward County School Board in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
  • Judy T. Sweeney, Universal American School, Dubai UAE.
  • Julie Olson, Mitchell High School, South Dakota, USA.
  • Mounissa Yasin Daboul, Noble Schools, Saudi Arabia.
  • Samya Matouk, Higher Colleges of Technology, Sharjah, UAE.

Speaking at the event, Alpha Publishing Managing Director Eyad Darawsheh said “today has represented a significant step forward in Alpha Publishing’s objective to provide teaching materials and resources which meet best practice International standards – in this case the Next Generation Science Standards – and have also been tailored with local teachers and students in mind to deliver a level cultural attention-to-detail which has not been available in the educational publication market until now. We are grateful to all our collaborators and partners who have contributed to the success of this event, especially the Al Ittihad Schools who have adopted our carefully constructed science program for the future academic year.”
