Her Excellency Dr. Amal-Al-Qubaisi, ADEC’s Director General addresses to the audience at the launch of ADEC’s Internal Excellence Awards.

The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has announced the launch of an internal excellence award program to honour the outstanding performance of employees and divisions.

The Award comes in line with the directives of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, to launch excellence award programs at each Abu Dhabi government entity to augment the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance (ADAEP) and contribute to the achievement of its goals.

The Award aims to achieve performance excellence across ADEC’s sectors and divisions through improving institutional work processes, fostering the competency of employees to groom them for the best administrative practices in delivering services and promoting a culture of quality and transparency to make it an essential component of ADEC’s working environment. The program is also a preset for the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance

The Award, which follows similar standards of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance (ADAEP) accredited by The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), aims to motivate employees and further spread the culture of excellence and quality. The award categories include individuals, projects, and divisions/sectors.

Her Excellency Dr. Amal-Al-Qubaisi, ADEC’s Director General, said that launching this Award comes in compliance with the guidelines and directives of the Abu Dhabi government leadership to help enhance performance to international standards, promote motivation and competitiveness among employees.

ADEC’s DG added that excellence is not a grant to be given; it is the result of the continuous diligence and persistence. Excellence requires determination and it is not confined to the acquisition of knowledge but extends to its application in life in a creative way. It is the ability to interact wisely with others, and deal with challenges. “I look forward to having a proactive approach towards participation in this important program, as we see it as a unique opportunity to promote the culture of excellence and raise the spirit of fair competition,” said Dr. Al Qubaisi, who added that ADEC’s Excellence Award comes in line with the initiatives aiming to achieve the goals of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and emphasizes the importance of education as a key enabler to help achieve the prudent leadership’s vision and aspirations to transform UAE into a widely- known global economic hub.

“ADEC is keen to maintain a high spirited, responsible, innovative and creative team of employees. The aim is to achieve sustainable excellence embodying Abu Dhabi government’s vision, with the help of ADEC’s Executive Directors and Division Managers, and encourage employees to have a positive and professional attitude in the various areas and services.”

The Award will also contribute in promoting a competitive spirit among various divisions while developing capacities of employees in par with global best practices. This will allow employees to offer quality services to the public and ADEC’s partners in the public and private sectors.

Ms. Salama Al Amimi, ADEC’s Executive Director of Organizational Development and Excellence, said that the Award will help encourage employees to achieve their goals, improve work mechanisms in all sectors, and promote a culture of quality and transparency to make it an essential component of ADEC’s working environment. Moreover it will contribute to building the employees’ capacity and become ready to participate in ADAEP.

Ms. Al Amimi pointed out that the launch of such internal excellence awards comes as a continuation of ADEC’s success story, such as getting the “Emirates Appreciation Award for the Environment” for demonstrating their strong commitment to sustainable development, the Abu Dhabi Award of Excellence in Government Performance for their best financial practices this year, ISO/IEC 20000 for the ICT Division, ISO27001 certification by the British Standards Institute, Internal Audit Division (IAD) certified ISO 9001 Auditors, Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Award and receiving the Palladium Balanced Score Card (BSC) Hall of Fame for outstanding strategy execution.
