The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) announced that enrolments for Emirati students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 public schools for the 2017/2018 academic school year, will take place Sunday 19th February up until Thursday 17th March 2017.

The registration process for non-Emirati students is Sunday 19th March until Thursday 23rd March 2017 (in accordance to available vacancies, student density and the schools capacity).

His Excellency Mr. Mohammad Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC’s School Operations Executive Director, highlighted ADEC’s keenness to secure school seats for all students wishing to enroll in public schools, thus providing accurate and detailed information to parents regarding the school registration process in detail.

“Schools are ready to assist parents in completing the registration process online through ADEC’s website www.adec.ac.ae using a student’s Emirates Identification Card via an Identification Card Reader. This will allow parents to register their children online from anywhere,” explained Mr. Al Dhaheri.

ADEC’s School Operations expert further added that the minimum age requirement for children entering Kindergarten 1 is for children turning 4 years old on December 31st 2017. Entering Kindergarten 2 is for children aged 5 years old on December 31st 2017, while the requirement to enroll in Grade 1 is for children aged six years old on 31st December 2017.

Registration of Emirati students and those who are treated alike in Kindergartens and Abu Dhabi public schools will be processed based on maximum class capacity approved by ADEC (a maximum number of 20 students for Kindergarten, 25 students for Cycle 1 schools and 30 students for Cycle 2 and 3 schools).

Categories of students to be enrolled in public school kindergartens include UAE citizens and children of UAE mother holders of a family book, while those to be enrolled in Grades 1 to 12 include UAE citizens, children of UAE mother holders of a family book, holders of diplomatic identification cards issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, orphans sponsored by a UAE citizen provided that the sponsor and guardian are the same person, and non-Emirati student as per the applicable laws and regulations.

Parents may register their children via visiting a conveniently located school according to their geographical location, or register online via ADEC’s website www.adec.ac.ae – since students are registered directly via the eSIS system. For more information, parents may contact the concerned representative on: 02-615-0000.

During online registration, parents are required to provide the following documents: original copies of a student’s UAE Identification and their parents UAE identification, proof of residence such as a lease contract, property ownership or electricity bill.

The enrolment of top expatriate students for Grades 1 to 12 across ADEC’s public schools can be done through logging into ADEC’s website www.adec.ac.ae and registering online during the specified period using a student’s Emirates Identification Card through the ID Reader according to available vacancies, student density and school capacity. The enrolled students should not exceed 20% of the total number of Emirati students in each public school and in each classroom.
