For this father and son duo Rahul and Bharat, traditional Indian dance isn’t just an art form—it’s a family legacy. Rooted in generations of passion, dance became an integral part of their lives, starting with the father’s mother, who was his first teacher. “My mother was the one who first motivated me to learn this beautiful art form when I was a child,” the father recalls. With encouragement from his family, including his father, who had a deep love for music, he embraced dance from an early age. Today, he is a dance teacher at one of the leading schools in the UAE, passing on the same cultural gift to his son, Bharat.

Growing up surrounded by dance and music, Bharat’s passion for the art developed naturally. His parents, both dance teachers, provided him with the foundation to explore this classical tradition, and over the years, he has grown into a dedicated performer. Studying at The Millennium School in Dubai, Bharat has showcased his talent on stages across the globe, including Sydney, London, Qatar, Thailand, Bahrain, and Armenia. For the family, traditional Indian dance has not only preserved their cultural heritage but also deepened their bond as performers, especially during challenging performances such as a memorable one in Sydney, where they choreographed on the fly due to time constraints. As a father, his hope is to inspire future generations to appreciate the beauty of Bharatanatyam while exploring their own creativity. Together, their performances continue to make an impact in the UAE, serving as a powerful bridge for cultural exchange and artistic expression.
